Skuchrow: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Skuhrov combines traces of its grain-supply and glassmaking history with a chapel, viewpoints and paths through the municipality. Between historic sites and sweeping views of the surrounding mountains, the character of the place becomes especially tangible.
Culture and History
In the upper part of Skuhrov stands the Špýchar granary. Today, only a corner section of its surrounding walls remains visible. The granary was built in 1832 as a grain store and was intended to help prevent shortages.
In the lower part of Huntířov stands the Chapel of Saint Adalbert below the fire pond. Its construction was a prerequisite for the village’s first pilgrimage. The first glass pressing works was also established in Huntířov in 1865; the Tyl theatre association was founded there in 1889.
Landscape and Views
The southern part of Skuhrov’s municipal area extends into the Maloskalsko Nature Park. In addition, a small peripheral area of the Český ráj UNESCO Geopark extends into Skuhrov’s municipal area.
Several places on the northern side of Skuhrov offer distant views of the Krkonoše Mountains, part of the Jizera Mountains, Ještěd and Kozákov. A well-maintained viewpoint above Skuhrov offers views of Kozákov, Maloskalsko, Sokol and the Kopanina ridge.
The viewpoint near the Kříž in the direction of Skuhrov is equipped with a covered seating area, an information board about the municipality, descriptive panels about the viewpoint and play elements for children.
Circular Routes and Connections
Skuhrov’s groomed cross-country ski trail network forms a circular route through the municipality and branches off via Hamrštice in Pěnčín towards Kopanina, Dupanda in Alšovice and Černá Studnice. The circular route, with viewing benches, leads via Jerdovka above Huntířov, Alšovská Road below the cemetery in Skuhrov, Nácův Hill below the water tower in Skuhrov and Skřib in Huntířov.
