Josefsthal: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Josefsthal can be explored via specific trails, landscape features and cultural sites in Josefův Důl and the surrounding area. The shorter version of the Gustav Leutelt educational trail is 5.4 kilometres long and has five stations with information boards.

Trails and Experiences

Another experience is the Čertí Trail. After completing it, visitors receive a reward at the information centre if they have correctly completed the crossword puzzle and presented all the stamps collected along the way.

Nature

Mount Mariánská hora is located near Josefův Důl. The mountains Černá hora, Královka and Jizera are also nearby. In the Peklo district of Josefův Důl, the Čertovy kameny viewpoint offers views of the reservoir and the Kamenice Valley. The three-tiered waterfalls on the Jedlová overcome a height of more than 12 metres.

Culture and History

At Glass Pesničák in Josefův Důl, visitors can watch traditional glass cutting. This includes cut perfume bottles of the kind produced at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th centuries, using original techniques. The local history museum was established in 2010 in a former school building in Josefův Důl.

The cultural programme is also connected with local institutions: The J. K. Tyla theatre group stages its own productions and guest performances several times a year and organises the “Josefodolské divadelní jaro” festival for rural theatre groups every year. The Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord in Josefův Důl hosts organ concerts, Christmas concerts and classical music concerts.

The wider region around Josefův Důl is home to the castles Zamek Gryf, Czocha - Zamek XIVw. and Zamek Chojnik, as well as Valdštejn Church.
