Woleschnitz: Holiday Apartments and Houses
Zlatá Olešnice stretches along the slopes beside the Zlatník stream. The upper part lies within the Jizera Mountains Protected Landscape Area. The Zlatá Olešnice landscape character area is a foothill landscape with a relatively balanced proportion of forests and agriculturally used land, including meadows and pastures. It still contains a relatively high proportion of buildings representing the original vernacular architecture. At 826 metres, Javorník is the highest mountain in Zlatá Olešnice.
Active pursuits
Well-marked cycling routes run through Zlatá Olešnice, including the Járy Cimrman cycle route. The Zlatá Olešnice ski resort is located almost in the centre of the municipality. It offers a 500-metre red ski run, an easier 750-metre blue ski run, and a 95-metre rope lift for children. The Zlatá Olešnice Ski School offers skiing and snowboarding lessons for children and adults.
Culture and history
In the Návarov district of Zlatá Olešnice stands the small Baroque manor house of Návarov Castle, surrounded by an extensive park. Návarov Castle and its park are a protected cultural monument. The Roman Catholic Church of St Martin is a protected monument of Baroque architecture and a prominent landmark of Zlatá Olešnice. The Baroque church was built between 1780 and 1783 by the master builder Antonín Teumer and stands on a steep slope atop a high masonry base.
The ruins of Návarov Castle are the remains of a castle probably founded in the 14th century. Remnants of walls and traces of cellar rooms have survived to this day.
Antal Stašek and historical trails
The writer Antal Stašek was born on 22 July 1843 in Stanový, in the foothills of the Giant Mountains. His birthplace in Stanový is a cultural monument with a half-timbered structure and a wooden shingle roof; it currently also houses the local library. The historical hike “Zlatoolešnicko” begins at Návarov railway station and then follows cycle route 4248a before continuing along a green-marked hiking trail to the birthplace of the writer Antal Stašek in Stanový. The house probably dates from 1765.
