Kobyly: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

The Way of St. James runs through Kobyly. It is part of the Žitava Route, which connects the German town of Zittau with Prague. The Žitava Route follows an old pilgrimage and trade route. On the five-kilometre section from Letařovice, there is a bench for resting next to the pilgrimage stone in Vorkleblice.

Paths and landscape

Kobyly lies at an altitude of 310 to 345 metres above sea level in varied terrain with a deeply incised stream valley. A planting of lime trees dating from the beginning of the 20th century is a defining landscape feature in Kobyly. The Topolina viewpoint, at 395 metres above sea level, offers extensive views.

Three cycle routes run through Kobyly and connect its individual districts. Cycle route no. 3048 runs through Kobyly and leads from Svijany to Osečná. Route 3044 leads from Dlouhý most to Chocnějovice and is 34 kilometres long. Route 3050 connects Stohánek rock castle with Pěnčín and is 29.5 kilometres long. On weekdays, Kobyly is served by three bus routes. Kobyly also offers opportunities for agrotourism.

Culture and townscape

The settlement of Kobyly includes the Chapel of St. Wenceslas, built in 1900. The original development in Kobyly is characterised by agricultural homesteads with brick-built and log-built houses. In the western part of the Kojecko district stands the two-storey log house “Venkovský dům | Kobyly”, which dates from the 18th century.

Kobyly 1 is a significant archaeological site in category ÚAN I. The Kobyly 1 archaeological site is a burial ground on a gentle slope above the village and, at the same time, the archaeological site after which the Kobyly Group is named.

Every year, residents gather at the Chapel of St. Gallus in Havlovice to sing Christmas carols. The Sokol clubhouse in Nechálov is now used mainly as a meeting place and for cultural events. The annual general meeting of the Havlovice Volunteer Fire Brigade is scheduled to take place at the Sokol clubhouse on 3 January 2026, and the Kobyly Primary School parents’ ball on 21 February 2026.
