Prosec Pod Jestedem: Apartments and Holiday Homes

Prosec Pod Jestedem presents itself as a destination shaped by a closely connected sequence of local history, literature, and hiking experiences centered around Světlá pod Ještědem and Karolina Světlá. Culture and History

The Church of St. Nicholas in Světlá pod Ještědem dates from 1643. It was remodelled in the Baroque style in 1730, when a bulbous tower was added. Its portal bears the coat of arms of Lamotta z Frintropu.

Karolina Světlá stayed in Světlá pod Ještědem with her husband Petr Mužák from 1853 to 1865. Antošův statek also preserves a literary connection: it is the setting of her novel “Vesnický román”. The estate, which is associated with the U Richtrů inn, dates from 1835.

In the Footsteps of Karolina Světlá

The “Po stopách Karoliny Světlé” educational trail is 7.5 kilometres long and forms a loop. The hike can begin at Station 1 by the Church of St. Nicholas and end at Station 12 on the other side of the church. At the individual stations, visitors can listen to audio excerpts; the stations also offer views of the surrounding landscape.

The Karoliny Světlé open-air festival takes place every year around the turn of May and June and is considered the symbolic start of the season for the “Po stopách Karoliny Světlé” educational trail.

Commentated Local History

The commented tour “Vesnice s příběhem” leads across the village square and to the Church of St. Nicholas in Světlá pod Ještědem. It begins in front of the church and lasts approximately 50 minutes. Its route is short and is also suitable for visitors with reduced mobility.
