Mníšek reveals its distinctive features on different scales. The larger part of Mníšek and all of Fojtka lie within the Jizera Mountains Protected Landscape Area. On a slope of Dračí vrch near Fojtka, there is a protected occurrence of the European yew (Taxus baccata).

Nature and landscape

Nature and landscape form an independent point of interest alongside the local history. In Mníšek, both themes exist side by side. Depending on your interests, you can switch between a focus on nature and one on culture and consider both perspectives independently of each other.

Culture and history

The local history includes the Baroque “Church of St Nicholas” in Mníšek. It is a state-protected monument. The foundation of today’s “Church of St Nicholas” was laid on 3 June 1739. For visitors interested in culture, a named building, a clear style, a protection status and a specific date come together closely here. You can classify this historical focus as an independent part of exploring the locality alongside the nature and route-related themes.

Route and nature experience

The Fojtka–Dračí skála excursion route begins with a first section that can be covered by bicycle and with a pushchair. The ascent to Dračí vrch on this route is possible only on foot. From the Fojtka Reservoir to Dračí skála, the excursion route is 8 kilometres long. The section, ascent and total distance can serve as different scales when planning your day.

The rock on Dračí vrch, also called “Dragon's Hill”, can still be visited by tourists today. These three levels can be planned separately for different daily rhythms. The route can be read as a sequence of different movement indications, not merely as a number.

Water and orientation

You can swim at the Fojtka Reservoir in summer. The car park intended for cars at the reservoir is called “Parkoviště vodní nádrž Fojtka”. Swimming, the route and the car park represent different aspects of an excursion at the reservoir. When planning your day, water, movement and practical access by car can be distinguished from one another as different focal points. The three aspects do not belong to a single activity, but to different parts of an excursion at this body of water.

When choosing a holiday apartment in Mníšek, you can compare travel dates, room category and cancellation conditions on the respective offer pages. These three fields belong to the specific booking decision and can be checked separately from your considerations concerning nature, history, the route and travel arrangements. You can compare the specific fields on the offer pages with your own travel dates without mixing local topics and accommodation details.
