Bílý Potok: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

The Jizera Mountains Beech Forests National Nature Reserve also includes the cadastral area of Bílý Potok pod Smrkem. It protects a mixed forest complex consisting predominantly of beech, with geomorphologically significant formations as well as preserved natural or near-natural plant and animal communities.

Activities and trails

The HUP-HOP trail in Bílý Potok is 500 metres long, free of charge and open to the public. Its facilities include eleven stretching and strength-training stations as well as additional equipment. The trail connects the Jizerky recreation centre with the Hubertka tourist lodge in the surrounding forests and can be combined with a walk to the nearby Kočičí kameny rock viewpoint.

The Hubertka lodge is located in the beech forests of the Jizera Mountains at a crossroads of hiking trails east of Lázně Libverda and north of Bílý Potok, on the slopes of Smrk (1,124 m). Due to its proximity to Singltrek pod Smrkem, it is frequently visited by cyclists; in winter, it is mainly visited by cross-country skiers.

Culture and history

The Jizera Mountains Technical Museum is located in the former waste-spinning mill of Karl Bienert Jr. in Bílý Potok. The exceptionally well-preserved factory complex retains numerous authentic structures and facilities from the second half of the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century.

The Church of the Holy Trinity in Bílý Potok was built from 1888 to 1890 and consecrated on 28 September 1890. It is designed in the pseudo-Romanesque style and has two stained-glass windows. Since 21 December 1998, it has been listed in the Czech register of cultural monuments.

Keramika Strunovi operates an atelier, a small exhibition hall, a garden gallery and a shop under one roof in Bílý Potok.

Railway and preserved buildings

The Raspenava–Bílý Potok railway line began public service on 3 May 1900. Originally, it had five stations, which have been preserved to this day. Bílý Potok pod Smrkem railway station was built from 1899 to 1900; its main building and the two-track locomotive shed are still preserved in an almost original condition. The station is now located in the cadastral area of Hejnice.
