Svijany: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Svijany combines an illustrative local history with a vibrant brewing tradition and short as well as regional routes. The publicly accessible Zámek Svijany features exhibitions on archaeology, the history of the château and its surroundings, the history of brewing, the underground areas and the château chapel. These include an archaeological exhibition from the Bronze Age with a bronze hoard, as well as an exhibition on the Neolithic period and Eduard Štorch.

Culture and History

From May to October, Zámek Svijany offers two-hour nighttime tours with the archaeologist Mgr. Petr Brestovanský. The focus is on stories and archaeological discoveries. Another memorial site is the restored military cemetery in Svijany. It commemorates the events of the Prussian-Austrian War on 26 June 1866. The site includes four monuments and an entrance gate; the cemetery is a memorial site for residents and visitors.

Brewery

The history of the Svijany Brewery began in 1564. It uses the decoction method with two mashes, typical of Czech beer. Public guided brewery tours last approximately 60 minutes: the brewing processes are demonstrated, and unfiltered beer can be sampled directly from a storage tank.

Routes

On 2 October 2025, section F101.2 of the Greenway Jizera was opened in Svijany. It connects a previously completed route through the Kabeláčová Garden in the direction of the main road and forms a middle section of the connection between the municipalities and the local cycle paths. Within the municipality, the První naučná stezka Svijany runs as an educational trail with six stations and a length of up to 0.5 km. It begins at the D10 underpass in the lower part of the municipality, leads through Svijany along the main road past Pivovar Svijany and Zámek Svijany, and ends on the upper edge of the village at the statue of Saint John of Nepomuk.

The educational trail in Svijany points to the Žabakor Nature Reserve in the nearby area, where rare bird species can be observed. In the wider regional surroundings of Svijany, the Greenway Jizera runs along the Jizera River. It is suitable for cyclists, pedestrians and families, connects natural landscapes with cultural monuments and offers activities for visitors of various age groups.

In the surroundings of Svijany is Valdštejn, a church. In the nearby area lies (Na Stráni) [Svijanský Újezd], a hill. In the wider regional surroundings of Svijany are Střelečská hůra, a mountain, Maršovicky vrch, a mountain, and Ještěd, a mountain. The Kaple Nejsvětější Trojice, a church, is also located there.
