In Heřmanice U Frýdlantu, the observation tower is 25 m high and freely accessible all year round. “Do nitra sopky” starts at a tourist car park below the observation tower; parking is available there. The outdoor family game can be played using a mobile app or a practical notebook.

Heřmanické peklo is also freely accessible all year round. There are wooden figures of five adult devils, one female devil and two small devils, as well as three bears. The scene is complemented by a hell mask with a spider’s web and a hell throne to sit on. In December, children meet Mikuláš, devils and angels here.

Cycle Route 1 connects Hrádek nad Nisou, Václavice, Albrechtice u Frýdlantu, Heřmanice and Frýdlant.

Culture

Sklárna Josef Novotný produces handmade glass products, ranging from small pieces of jewellery and functional glassware to monumental glass objects. It can be visited on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.; at weekends, it is open irregularly.

At SpiderGlass, visitors can see the technological manufacturing process, a studio gallery for glass and jewellery, and an exhibition room with original ceramic moulds.

Nature and history

The former narrow-gauge railway Heřmanička ran from Frýdlant to Heřmanice, near the border. Historically, it connected Frýdlant via the Saxon narrow-gauge railway network with present-day Bogatynia and Žitava.

Kodešova skála is a basalt rock massif with a rock wall where a fan-shaped arrangement of basalt columns is clearly visible. It was named after the Frýdlant teacher Otakar Kodeš, who was shot there on 22 September 1938 by a member of a Sudeten German association.
