Neudek: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Neudek presents traces of nature and culture in various forms: educational trails lead through the town centre, valley and countryside; churches, chapels, a museum and a railway line complete the townscape.

Trails and Educational Paths

The “Vysoká Štola – Oldřichov” educational trail begins behind Nejdek’s winter sports stadium and leads through Pozorka, Vysoká Štola and Oldřichov before returning to Nejdek through the Oldřichov Valley. The route is more than 9 km long and includes nine stations covering history, geology, mining, old routes and the character of the landscape. Parking for cars is available for this educational trail at the football stadium and the winter sports stadium.

The 5 km-long “Děti dětem” educational trail is located in the southern part of Nejdek. At eight stations, it introduces the plants, animals, rocks and population of the Nejdek region.

The 2.6 km-long, red-marked local circular trail “Po stopách slavných nejdeckých osobností” runs through the centre of Nejdek. It leads to memorial stones, plaques on birthplaces and other sites associated with notable people from Nejdek. These include the birthplace of actor Vladimír Ráž, a viewpoint over Nejdek and the place from which J. W. Goethe sketched the tower of Nejdek.

The 5.4 km-long “Křížovým vrchem” circular trail also begins directly in Nejdek.

Views and Landscapes

The “Nejdecká křížová cesta” Stations of the Cross is 1,600 metres long, overcomes an elevation difference of 110 metres and comprises 14 stone chapels serving as stations. It offers views of Nejdek’s historic district and the deep valley of the Rolava.

The “Rozhledna Pajndl” lookout tower is accessible year-round and can be reached on foot from Nejdek via the green-marked hiking trail in approximately two hours.

The 10.2 km-long hiking trip “Přes Nejdecký Špičák k Lesíku” leads from Nejdek via Nejdecký Špičák to Lesík; swimming is possible in the Lesík reservoir along the way.

History and Townscape

The “Evangelický kostel Vykupitele” church in Nejdek was completed in 1904 in the Neo-Gothic style. Its grounds, including the Art Nouveau vicarage, have been a protected cultural monument since 2007.

The pseudo-Gothic “Kaple v Suché” chapel was built in 1885 near a farmstead on the raised bank of a rural pond. The “Kašna Rolávka” fountain depicts the Rolava River, paved with light-coloured river stones in its original riverbed.

The “Hradní věž” tower is open to the public by prior arrangement with its owner, the dean of St. Martin’s Church.

The Nejdek Museum is closed due to the reconstruction of the building and the preparation of a new permanent exhibition.

Railway

The “Krušnohorský Semmering” railway line runs from Nejdek via Nové Hamry to Pernink and overcomes an elevation difference of 360 metres over 15 km with the help of three tunnels and the Nové Hamry loop.
