Culture and History

St. Nicholas Church in Žíželeves is a late Baroque building constructed between 1769 and 1776. It was built under the patronage of Karel Špork by František Kermer, added to the list of central cultural monuments, and is considered an urban-planning and landscape landmark of the municipality. A four-story prismatic tower adjoins the north side of the presbytery.

In the medieval and modern-day historic center of Žíželeves, the archaeological site includes the later Roman Imperial period as well as the Middle Ages and the modern era.

Local Culture

The 2018 pilgrimage included the fourth edition of the competition for the best Žíželevský koláček. A 15th festive pilgrimage was announced for Žíželevsi. The pilgrimage program in Žíželevsi included a procession through the village in historical costumes, accompanied by music.

Landscape and Region

The nearby surroundings of Žíželeves include the hill (V Pustých) near Račice nad Trotinou and the Nad Lysicí hill near Cerekvice nad Bystřicí. The Velký Vřešťov hill, considered to be the site of a former castle, is also located nearby.
