History
The Zachrašťany fortress stood south of the village on a hill called “Hrubý kopec”, in the meadows. The old fortress was captured and destroyed in 1425.
The memorial to Dobromil Špinka stands in Zachrašťany at an intersection next to House No. 1. It identifies Dobromil Špinka as a member of the British Royal Air Force (RAF) and records that he was killed on 3 March 1942 during an air raid on Emden. There is also a wooden belfry opposite the municipal office.
Events
At the 2016 Zachrašťanský Jarmark, visitors could watch and try out demonstrations of traditional crafts such as repoussé metalwork, candle-making, wire weaving, embroidery, and patchwork. The Zachrašťanský Jarmark was held for the second time on 15 July 2017. On 11 October, the traditional Strašidlení took place in Zachrašťany.
Library
The Zachrašťany Municipal Library has almost 4,000 titles from various genres. It also offers a creative workshop for children and adults; information about current dates for participation is available.
