Zdelov: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Zdelov is located amid forests between Kostelec nad Orlicí and Borohrádek.

Landscape

The Brodec stream flows through the whole of Zdelov. Zdelov is also one of the sites in the Czech Republic known for the rare sand milk-vetch (Astragalus arenarius).

History

The first written mention of Zdelov dates back to 1342. In the past, the Brodec stream supplied two ponds, which were able to power two mills in Zdelov. One of Zdelov’s historic ponds was converted into an outdoor swimming pool. A local legend explains the name Zdelov with the exclamation “Zde lov nebude!” (“There will be no hunting here!”).

Sports and Events

The TJ Sokol Zdelov football stadium is primarily open to the public for watching football matches. The stadium is accessible to the public from at least one hour before the start of an event until one hour after it ends. Sports events take place in the sports complex of the municipality of Zdelov.

The tradition of Zdelovská lávka is maintained every year with the participation of the local population and the Zdelov Volunteer Fire Brigade. Zdelovská lávka takes place on the site of the former outdoor swimming pool in Zdelov.

Cycling

Cycle route 4318 is a moderately difficult, road-marked route that uses third-class roads and roads designated for specific purposes. Its surface is asphalted or paved; it is suitable for mountain bikes and trekking bikes. The route passes through Kostelec Nad Orlicí, Sklenářka and Zdelov; Zdelov is listed at kilometre 6.60 of the route.
