Volanice: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

A Baroque chateau stands in Volanice. It was built around 1780 next to the farmstead and has survived to this day in almost its original form. It probably stood on the site of an earlier fortress.

History

The first written mention of Volanice dates from 1325; at that time, Stojislav z Volanic lived there. Until 1631, the Volanský family owned the freeman’s farmstead in Volanice. The name Volanice and the Volanka stream also preserve the connection to the historic Volanský family.

Culture

The historic appearance of the village includes the bell tower and the cross, which together form a protected monument ensemble. Next to the cemetery stands a monument to those who fell in the First World War. Volanice also has several log houses.

The chateau is currently privately owned. It includes reused Baroque caryatids from the former Jesuit residence in Sběř.

Nature

The area around Volanice includes Maxinec Mountain (MLázovický chlum), Kamenec Mountain and U Borku Mountain [Záhornice u Městce Králové]. In the wider surrounding region lies Přivýšina Mountain.

Things to do

On its return route from Vysoké Veselí to Češov, the Češov–Vysoké Veselí educational trail passes through Volanice. Only local fishing permits are valid at the Volanice fishing grounds. During Putování po stezce on 18 July 2026, Volanice was a checkpoint; Schpejchar is listed as the location.
