Boháňka: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Boháňka combines open-air art, historic wayside landmarks and landscapes at the foot of Chlumský vrch. To the north, views extend towards Zvičina and, beyond it, the Krkonoše Mountains.

Culture and History

Boháňka is home to a 1915 monument to Jan Hus, based on a design by František Bílek. The sculptures in the Boháňka open-air sculpture exhibition are carved from hard sandstone from the KUKS quarry.

At a crossroads near the Boháňka school building stands an old stone cross. The historic cross stone is also considered a Cyril and Methodius cross; the year 830 can be seen on its front. In the forest northeast of Boháňka stands a cross stone traditionally referred to as an expiation cross. The wayside shrine at the crossroads between Chloumek, Maňovice and Skála is generally dated to the 16th century.

The Třebovětický Rondel is located about 300 metres from the village of Skála, is listed as a heritage monument and is protected by law.

Landscape and Trails

Hiking and cycling trails pass through Boháňka. The Boháňka open-air sculpture exhibition is located along a yellow-marked hiking trail and forms part of the international Cesta kamene trail.

The hills of Vinice (Bílé Poličany) and Nad Lysicí (Cerekvice nad Bystřicí) are located in the immediate vicinity of Boháňka. Velký Vřešťov is also nearby and is designated as a “former castle site”.

In the wider regional area around Boháňka are Maxinec Mountain (Mlázovický chlum) and the Lázně church.

Open-Air Art and Events

The open-air gallery of the student sculpture symposium is a tourist stop in Boháňka. The Boháňka–Skála summer cinema is located in a natural amphitheatre.
