Vršce: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

At the southern edge of Vršce stands the Church of St Lawrence. It was extensively rebuilt in 1726 on the site of a Gothic predecessor documented from the mid-14th century and is listed as a cultural monument.

Culture and history

The historic wooden bell tower from 1515 stands next to the church in Vršce. It is considered one of the oldest timber-framed bell towers in the Bohemian Paradise. Historically, the bell tower announced church services as well as dangers and fires in the four cardinal directions to the neighbouring communities.

The western rampart of the fortified settlement site known as Češovské valy lies in the cadastral territory of Vršce. The area south of Vršce and the brickworks there were already settled in the 7th to 9th centuries.

Nature and cycle paths

The Češovské lesy Natura 2000 site covers Vršce and an area of 739.9 hectares. Cycle route 4288 also passes through the village along its designated route; it is considered a southern link between the Jičín region and Hradec Králové. The 49 km Jičínský okruh cycle circuit also passes through Vršce.

Places and routes

The reconstructed HCS 5 fortified field road connects Vršce directly with Běchary. A recreational area called Hliňák was built in Vršce.
