Pecka: Holiday apartments and holiday homes
Pecka Castle was founded at the end of the 13th century on the rocky end of an elongated ridge and has been partially preserved as a ruin. Its history can be explored on the historical tour “Route A”: it leads through Kryštof Harant’s study, as well as through rooms dedicated to the history of the castle and the town of Pecka.
Culture and history
Pecka’s square is home to a plague column erected in 1720, topped by a statue of the Virgin Mary. The Baroque Church of St. Bartholomew is also part of the townscape. It was built from 1751 to 1753 and features interior frescoes by Václav Kramolín from 1756.
Another tour of the castle is “Harant’s Cellars”. It includes wine and beer cellars, storerooms, the Veselka banquet hall, a bath and a medieval torture chamber. Lázně, a church, is also located in the vicinity of Pecka. In the wider surrounding region lies Spalona Strażnica, a ruin.
Pecka’s tourist information centre is located in the local library in the municipal office building. Free leaflets about the town, the castle and the outdoor swimming pool, as well as maps showing tourist destinations, are available there.
Nature and trails
Hravá Homolka is a forest trail that leads from the reception of Pecka campsite along a stream towards the forest. The trail has ten stations with sporting, playful and educational tasks. Koupaliště & kempu Pecka also has a natural swimming pool with purified water.
Well-marked hiking trails lead through the varied landscape around Pecka, with preserved nature, local sights and far-reaching views of the Krkonoše Mountains, Kozákov, Zvičina and the Hořice hills. Maxinec (MLázovický chlum) is a mountain in the vicinity of Pecka. Čihadlo [Pecka-Bukovina] is a hill in the immediate vicinity of Pecka.
In the wider surrounding region of Pecka lie Tábor and Strážník, both mountains. For cyclists, the 50-kilometre road cycling route “To the town of stone beauty and to Zvičina” starts at Pecka campsite and returns there.
