Jitschin: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

The Valdická brána was built from 1568 to 1578 as part of the town fortifications of Jičín. Its observation tower is 52 metres high and has 156 steps. Visitors can access the viewing gallery and the attic, which offers a view of the roof structure and contains exhibition rooms.

Culture and history

Kostel sv. Ignáce is the oldest surviving building in Jičín. Concerts and lectures are held at the synagogue at Židovská 100 Jičín. The guides from Valdštejnovo muzeum a mincovna offer guided tours of Jičín with commentary.

In July and August, Kostel sv. Ignáce is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. During this period, guided tours with commentary are offered on Fridays at 10 a.m., noon, 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., and on Saturdays at 10 a.m. and noon.

Architecture and cultural life

The Valdštejnská lodžie is a unique early Baroque monument and, at the same time, a cultural centre focusing on live art, alternative culture and unusual family events. The Jičín–zastávka railway station is in the immediate vicinity of the Valdštejnská lodžie.

Nature and trails

The Lipová alej is a unique natural monument and an avenue just under two kilometres long that leads from the centre of Jičín to the Valdštejnská lodžie. Its gravel path is suitable for pedestrians and cyclists.

The Rumcajsova stezka is a 12-kilometre circular trail that begins and ends at Valdštejnovo náměstí. It leads via Kbelnice, Mount Brada, Prachov and Holín back to Jičín.

Special experiences

Rumcajsova ševcovna includes Mančа’s herb garden, Cipísek’s zoo and a playroom for the youngest visitors. Visitors can also see the shop beneath the tower where Rumcajs practised his craft for many years.
