Ohaveč: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Ohaveč has a long history: the area was already inhabited in the 6th to 5th millennium BC and belonged to the settlement area of the nearby Prachov Rocks.

History and Archaeological Traces

The medieval village of Ohaveč was first mentioned in 1327. Before 1487, the settlement was incorporated into the then-expanding Veliš estate of the Trčka von Lípa family. In 1622, under Albrecht von Wallenstein, Ohaveč became part of the Duchy of Friedland.

Archaeological investigations in the area around Ohaveč uncovered at least 90 structures, including huts and pits. Numerous stone tools and ceramic fragments were also unearthed.

Village Square and Landscape

When travelling from Sobotka to Jičín, the road passes through Ohaveč. The picturesque village square lies a few dozen metres south of it. From there, visitors can enjoy a view of the Velišský hřbet ridge and down towards the Ostruženské rybníky ponds.

Natural Monuments and Ponds

The local natural heritage includes the Ohavečská lípa, which is designated as a protected commemorative tree. It was first placed under protection on 21 May 2008.

The Ostruženské rybníky natural monument lies in the cadastral areas of Březina, Ohaveč and Ostružno. The protected area comprises the Ostruženský, Turecká and Čeperka ponds, with reed beds and adjacent wet meadows. It is one of the most important ornithological areas in the Královéhradecký Region.
