Mlynec: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Mlýnec lies in a Polabian landscape with ponds and woodland. In the eastern part of the village lies Rybník Zrcadlo, known among locals and visitors for its size and its diverse aquatic and bird life. The surrounding area offers good conditions for tourism, recreation and spending time in nature.

Nature and Landscape

The cadastral area of Mlýnec u Kopidlina lies in the Dymokursko Natura 2000 site of European importance, which comprises a very well-preserved complex of deciduous forests, wet meadows and aquatic ecosystems. The cadastral area also lies within the Rožďalovické rybníky Special Protection Area, which protects populations and habitats of the western marsh harrier and the common crane. The Rožďalovické rybníky Special Protection Area is an important migratory area for waterbirds and birds of prey, with up to 3,000–4,000 individuals.

Trails and Railway

The forests around Mlýnec attract mushroom pickers and visitors seeking peace in nature. The local paths are suitable destinations for walks and cycling trips. From Mlýnec railway station, a yellow-marked hiking trail leads through the local forests to Bučický rybník.

Mlýnec railway station is served by line 061 between Nymburk and Jičín. It is located approximately 650 metres from the village centre and is connected to the village by a paved footpath.

History and Culture

There is a chapel southwest of Mlýnec. The cadastral area of Mlýnec is a polycultural archaeological site with finds ranging from the Linear Pottery culture to the modern era. Near the Mrlina, prehistoric, early medieval and high medieval settlement traces have been identified in the cadastral areas of Kopidlno and Mlýnec.
