Podhorní Újezd and Vojice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Podhorní Újezd and Vojice are characterized by a distinctive sandstone tradition, regional folk architecture, and numerous stone monuments. The village landscape brings together history and rural landmarks.

Culture

Sandstone quarrying began in Podhorní Újezd and Vojice around the middle of the 17th century. The Jan Hus monument in Vojice was made in 1897 from stone taken from the local quarries. Vojice was also the birthplace of the sculptor Ladislav Jan Kofránek, who came from an old stonemason family.

The sculpture group of Saint John of Nepomuk in Vojice dates from 1747 and was donated by Valdice Monastery. It stands on the main road towards Hradec Králové–Jičín, at the turnoff to Vojice. In the upper part of the settlement of Podhorní Újezd, a column monument with a sculpture group of Saint Anne, Saint Wenceslas, Saint John the Baptist, and two angels stands by the road behind house no. 70, enclosed by a stone fence.

The village landscape includes sandstone and half-timbered houses representing the regional folk architecture. Lázně Church is located in the wider regional surroundings of Podhorní Újezd and Vojice.

The landscape around the village also features several distinctive names: Mount Maxinec (MLázovický chlum) is located in the vicinity of Podhorní Újezd and Vojice. Mount Přivýšina and Mount Tábor are located in the wider regional surroundings. Hůra Hill [Konecchlumí] is also in the vicinity.

In Podhorní Újezd, the fruit educational trail has a rest area with an information board about fruit growing. Pyrám is an old stone signpost at a crossroads on the routes towards Hradec Králové–Jičín and Sobčice–Vojice. Vojice has a train stop.
