Nature and Water

The Rybník Vražda pond is designated as a protected natural monument. The protected area around the pond preserves wet meadows with rare plants and animals.

Oborská luka, also known as Oborská louka, is a protected wetland above Oborský pond, the largest of the three Jinolické rybníky ponds.

The Jinolické rybníky ponds offer pleasant swimming opportunities as well as opportunities for camping and leisure activities.

Paths and Landscape

Jinolice railway station is located on the Turnov–Jičín line. From there, a green-marked hiking trail leads via the Jinolické rybníky ponds to the Prachovské skály rocks; it is approximately 3.5 km long.

The early Gothic Brada Castle once stood on the wooded ridge above the Jinolické rybníky ponds. The Brada castle site can be reached via the blue-marked hiking trail in the direction of Jičín–Prachovské skály.

Culture and History

The local historic wooden buildings include the former mill at house no. 37, which is listed as a local heritage site of Jinolice. The mill dates from the early 19th century.

A brick bell tower stands beneath a linden tree on the village green near the municipal office.

On road I/35 between Jičín and Turnov, a cast-iron monument to those who fell in the Battle of Jičín on 29 June 1866 stands in Jinolice. A helmet is mounted above its decorated cornice.

Jinolice has the educational trail “Bitva u Jičína 29. června 1866”. The war grave in the center of Jinolice commemorates 12 Austrian soldiers, 24 Prussian soldiers and one officer who fell in the Battle of Jičín on 29 June 1866. Another war grave at Rybník Vražda pond in the Malá Jinolice district commemorates 92 soldiers who fell near Malá and Velká Jinolice on 29 June 1866.
