Javorník: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Javorník is home to the Church of Saint Martin, which is listed as a registered cultural monument and dates from 1707 to 1708. An older church at the site is dated to 1354 and was a subsidiary church of Rudník. A registered chapel with a Pietà stands at house number 25.

Culture and History

The Tvrziště of Javorník is a water castle. It is characterised by a conical hill and a wide moat that was fed by a nearby stream. In the eastern part, a Gothic cellar and a possible remnant of a residential tower have been preserved. The built-up area of Javorník is designated as an archaeological site dating from the Middle Ages to the modern era.

The artificially created Jiřský příkop is located in the cadastral area of Javorník between Rudník and Jánská hora. It is 675 metres long and crosses the ridge between the Stránský and Žabí streams. The Jiřský příkop is an old mining work with side ditches and several small filled-in shafts; in some places it is more than 30 metres wide and up to 20 metres deep.

Landscape

Cycle Route 4299 runs from Kunčice to Pilníkov via Dolní Lánov, Fořt, Rudník, Javorník v Krkonoších and Vlčice. The 8-kilometre Rudník–Javorník–Hertvíkovice route passes through the foothill landscape and offers views of the Krkonoše Mountains.
