In Dřevěnice, the Volejbalová Dřevěnice volleyball tournament has been held continuously since its first tournament on 15 August 1954. The volleyball complex in Dřevěnice has ten sand courts, five of them floodlit, as well as two beach volleyball courts.
Culture
The chapel with the statue of Saint John of Nepomuk is registered in Dřevěnice as an immovable cultural monument under registration number 106421. The early Baroque statue of the Victorious Virgin Mary dates from 1626 and was placed under the bell tower after its restoration in 1988. The statue of Saint Wenceslas was erected in 1735 on the road to Radim.
West of Dřevěnice Fortress stands the former malt house of the Kumburk brewery. It bears a Šternberk coat of arms and has a wooden portal with the year 1678. The statue of the Holy Trinity stands in the centre of the village, while the stone cross at the crossroads to Dolánky was erected in 1862. In the wider regional surroundings of Dřevěnice are the churches of Valdštejn and Lázně.
Landscape
Dřevěnice lies in an appealing foothill valley, whose stream separates the flat landscape of the Jičín region from the wooded hills of the Nová Paka region. Geomorphologically, the village lies on the boundary between the Krkonošsko-jesenická Subprovince and the Bohemian Massif.
