Choteč: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

The music and theatre festival Kočí v Chotči has been held in Choteč since 1996 and takes place annually around the second Saturday in August. It uses venues throughout the village and in the surrounding countryside, including a playground, a pond, the church, a meadow and a forest.

Events

Flower exhibitions are regularly held in Lukscheiter’s greenhouses. The Choteč fire brigade also continues to organise various cultural and entertainment events and takes part in district fire brigade competitions every year.

Nature and sport

The Chotečský potok flows through Choteč, rises in the forests near Pustá Proseč and flows into the Javorka at Šárovcova Lhota.

In the western part of Choteč, by the pond, there is a freely accessible sports complex with five courts. It includes a children’s playground with climbing equipment, swings, a slide and a sandbox. The same sports complex also offers an asphalt court, another tennis court, as well as a boules court and a workout area.

The Měchurův Mill is still functional and is occasionally used to this day. A route suitable for walking and cycling runs along the Radotínský potok by Měchurův Mill. The mill has been documented since 1666; from 1776, the Veselý family operated it for seven generations.

Culture and history

The Church of St Nicholas in Choteč was rebuilt in the Baroque style in 1749–1750. It has a ceiling fresco depicting the legend of Saint Francis of Paola. Notable objects include historic tombstones for Kateřina Bořková z Maleřova and Jiří Bořek z Maléřova from 1549, as well as for Kateřina Maleřovská z Chotče from 1583.

The former fortress of Choteč was converted into a rectory, which was completed in 1562. A commemorative plaque on house no. 4 marks the birthplace of the organist and composer Jan Křtitel Kuchař.
