Šárovcova Lhota: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Javorka River flows through Šárovcova Lhota between Lázně Bělohrad and Ostroměř.

Geographical Location

The Sjezd Javorky takes place every year between the end of April and the beginning of May as a descent of the Javorka River; the event was first held in 2001.

Nature and Trails

Hiking route No. 11 from Šárovcova Lhota is 6 km long. Its first section leads through the forest along an unpaved path; therefore, the route is unsuitable for cyclists. Along the route, there is also the Hladoměř plague cross from 1763, located at a pavilion on the road from Ostroměř.

A green-marked hiking trail runs through Šárovcova Lhota towards Ostroměř and Lázně Bělohrad. From the “View of the Bohemian Paradise” lookout bench, the ruins of Trosky can be seen between the trees.

Culture

A memorial stone from 1817 commemorating Mlázovice–Šárovcova Lhota has been protected as an immovable cultural monument since 15 August 2020. Another memorial stone from 1817 on the road from Šárovcova Lhota to the settlement of Mezihoří commemorates the establishment of a forest.

A monument and a bust commemorate Alois Jirásek: the monument was ceremonially unveiled on 17 July 1921. Below the settlement of Libín is the writer’s bust, designed by Jan Štursa and carved in sandstone by Jan Kyselo.

Gregorův hostinec is a two-storey log house built around 1866 beside a path in the lower part of the settlement. Hrádek covered an area of 170 × 140 metres and was fortified on its eastern side by a rampart and a ditch.

Crafts and History

During the season, guided tours with expert commentary are held at the Cihelna round brickworks by prior arrangement. The exhibition at Cihelna includes copies of original drawings, wooden brick moulds, a steel turntable for brick wagons, wooden supports, and a wooden hoist that is still operational.

Events

The Memoriál Václava Dobeše Šárovcova Lhota–Zvičina hill climb is part of the Czech Hill Climb Cup. It originated more than 40 years ago on a whim and for fun.
