In Budčeves, the Rybník Kojetín pond is part of the nature monument of the same name and the Rožďalovické rybníky Natura 2000 Special Protection Area for birds (CZ20211010). The pond is a valuable habitat, particularly for waterfowl and amphibians, and is also an important ornithological site.

Nature

Perna is a Site of Community Importance; the listed cadastral areas include Běchary, Budčeves and Nečas. Perna comprises extensively mown lowland meadows extending into the foothill areas, as well as a very well-preserved complex of Hercynian oak-hornbeam forests. The Rožďalovické rybníky Special Protection Area for birds covers the cadastral areas of Budčeves and Nečas and protects populations of the western marsh harrier (Circus aeruginosus) and the common crane (Grus grus), as well as their habitats.

Perna Forest is considered a burial place of ancestors from ancient times. It is also described as a possible sacred grove that is said to have been named after the Slavic god Perun.

History and Townscape

On the village green in Budčeves, beside the main road towards Kopidlno, stands a statue of the Immaculate Conception of Mary. The late Baroque work of art was created by an unknown sculptor. Budčeves also has a circular settlement layout, which is associated with its old Czech origins. The name Budčeves is derived from the original owner of the fortress and estate, who was called Budka or Budče.

The settlement of Nečas was founded in 1780 on a drained pond. The school in Budčeves was founded in 1819, and the school building was used as a school until 1977. There was once an extensive pond in the field known as Pobočník. The Turyně Fortress in Budčeves later disappeared as a result of the construction of an agricultural building that was used as a cowshed.
