Boseň: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The entire municipality of Boseň lies within the Český ráj Protected Landscape Area (CHKO Český ráj). The rock town of Příhrazské skály consists of 178 towers and edge massifs. The Boseň lime tree also stands in the outer bailey area of Valečov: it is 22 metres tall, has a trunk circumference of 795 centimetres at a height of 130 centimetres, and is estimated to be around 400 years old. In 1981, it was designated a protected tree. Its crown has a bizarre shape, and its massive trunk is hollow.

Culture and History

The settlement of Mužský in Boseň is a village monument reservation; its centre consists predominantly of timber-framed architecture. The Church of Saint Wenceslas, a Baroque building dating from 1729, stands in Boseň. The Klamorna archaeological site is also located in the Mužský area. It is a prehistoric hillfort; finds provide evidence of human presence there as early as the Neolithic period, 5,000 years ago.

At Valečov Castle, the entrance exhibition displays archaeological finds from the collections of the museum in Mladá Boleslav. The core of the castle consists of a masonry palace, rock chambers and passageways. The ruins of Valečov Castle in Boseň are accessible year-round; visits take place individually with a printed guide. During the season, the Valečovské léto takes place annually in the amphitheatre below the castle, a popular festival featuring cultural, theatrical and concert performances.

Hiking and Trails

The Valečov–Drábské světničky hiking route is eight kilometres long and moderately difficult. The Golden Trail of Český ráj passes through Valečov and continues to Klamorna and Drábské světničky. A bus stop in Boseň is located one kilometre from Valečov Castle.
