Zaluzany: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Zalužany lies near the Orlík Reservoir in a predominantly agricultural, partly hilly landscape. In the village, Zalužany Castle, including its grounds, is listed as a cultural monument.

Culture and History

There are reports of a fortress dating from the 15th century on the site of Zalužany Castle. The present-day pseudo-Gothic Church of Saint Charles Borromeo in Zalužany was built from 1872 to 1874 on the initiative of local residents. The Jewish cemetery in Zalužany is a cultural monument. Zalužany also features numerous examples of folk architecture.

The Church of Saint Charles Borromeo is currently closed to the public.

Landscape and Water

There are a total of 15 water reservoirs in the Zalužany area, in varying states of preservation. The largest is Březina Pond (Vachanka) in the catchment area of the Zalužanský Stream.

The historical site “Lety u Písku. Memorial to the Roma and Sinti Holocaust in Bohemia” is located in the vicinity of Zalužany. Zvíkov Castle and the Vinice, Hrby, and Bukovec mountains are located near Zalužany.

In the wider regional surroundings of Zalužany are Velká Leč Mountain, the ruins of the Radomysl medium-wave radio mast, and the Church of Svatý Jan.
