Úmyslovice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Úmyslovice is characterised by its village layout centred around an extensive village green consisting of an orchard. The church stands in its centre; there is also a bus stop on the village green in the central part.

Culture and History

The Church of St. Linhart is a Neoclassical building dating from 1812 and incorporates parts of the masonry of an older church. The complex, including the surrounding wall, gate and associated grounds, is a protected monument.

Six gravestones remain from the former cemetery of the Church of St. Linhart. A commemorative plaque on the south wall of the nave recalls J. F. Coulon de Thévenot, the inventor of French shorthand, who was buried here. St. Leonard in Úmyslovice is a branch church and was formerly a parish church.

In the centre of Úmyslovice stands a memorial to the victims of the First and Second World Wars.

Landscape

A preserved section of the Polská cesta leads west from Úmyslovice into the fields and ends after a few dozen metres. Strips of grass and rows of fruit trees line this section, which is considered a rare example of a landscape form that survived elsewhere only until the 1950s. The Polská cesta near Úmyslovice belongs to the newer, so-called northern variant of a long-distance route to Kłodzko and onward to Poland.

Near Úmyslovice, hollows in the terrain and bank edges remain as traces of the former Blato pond. The disappeared Blato pond also lay within the cadastral area and municipality of Úmyslovice. The historic Šembor pond was located above the village; a second dam edge was situated opposite the village of Netřebice. A reservoir was created on the culverted stream running through the centre of the village.

Getting Around

Bus services operate on the route between Poděbrady, Dymokury and Městec Králové, providing access to Úmyslovice. There are no marked hiking or cycling trails in the Úmyslovice area.
