Újezdec: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Slaná louka u Újezdce lies on the eastern edge of Újezdec, partly within the built-up area of the village. The area is a 1.3318-hectare European Site of Community Importance in the Natura 2000 network, with the code CZ0210173. Its protected habitat consists of an inland salt meadow; at the same time, Slaná louka u Újezdce is one of the last remaining subhalophilous meadows in Central Bohemia.

Nature

Slaná louka u Újezdce comprises semi-natural dry grasslands and shrub formations on calcareous soils. Most of the area consists of bodies of water. The site is also a refuge for several subhalophilous species that are now very rare in the surrounding landscape, including Lotus tenuis, Melilotus dentatus, Juncus gerardii and Carex distans. The Slaná louka u Újezdce nature monument is one of Újezdec’s attractions.

Culture and Villagescape

The Chapel of the Virgin Mary is a protected immovable cultural monument in Újezdec, with the ÚSKP registration number 25094/2-3681, and a documented cultural heritage site in the cadastral area of Újezdec u Mělníka. The original urban structure of Újezdec includes a central area dominated in the north by the Chapel of the Virgin Mary, as well as a pond in the southern part.

An archaeological jug from Újezdec also belongs to the Únětice culture of the Early Bronze Age. A biconical jug with two encircling grooves beneath the neck, possibly from a body grave, dating from the Early Bronze Age and the Únětice culture, is kept at the Regional Museum in Mělník under inventory number Pr 1006.

Trails and Regional Setting

A red-marked hiking trail runs near the Újezdec area. The Labská cycle path also runs near the Újezdec area. Újezdec is one of the participating municipalities in the Labská stezka network of the Mělnicko-Kokořínsko tourism region.
