Hostín: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Hostín lies on a ridge formed by marl layers, in which limestone is also found in places. Fossils as well as remains of crabs, snails and marine animals have been found in Hostín and its surroundings. The forests still form the landscape surrounding Hostín today. In the immediate vicinity of Hostín are the Hostinná hill [Hostín u Mělníka], the U Skály hill [Malý Újezd-Jelenice] and the V Mikově hill [Malý Újezd].

Getting around

A yellow hiking trail leads directly through Hostín, from U Kola via Horní Harbasko to Dolní Harbasko. The Hostín triathlon comprises 400 m of swimming, 21 km of cycling and 3.5 km of running.

Culture

Three Stone Age stone axes were found at various locations in Hostín. A chipped stone industry was also discovered in the forest on the northern edge of the village; its age is estimated at between 4000 and 5000 BC. The monument to those who fell in the First World War in Hostín was erected in 1934 by a local amateur dramatics association.

The U Svatého Vojtěcha church is located in the vicinity of Hostín. In the wider region around Hostín are Zámek Ostrov Castle, Mount Nedvězí [Dubá-Dražejov], Starý Berštejn Castle Ruins and the Stará kanalizační čistírna Praha-Bubeneč Museum.
