Tuhaň: Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Elbe Cycle Route, Labská cyklotrasa No. 24, runs directly through Tuhaň. The village is an old settlement in the Elbe lowlands near the right bank of the Elbe, on slightly elevated, solid ground; the surrounding area is sandy, loose and not very fertile.

Nature

The Úpor-Černínovsko Nature Reserve extends along both banks of the Elbe between Neratovice and Mělník and includes floodplain forests, flood meadows and oxbow lakes. It protects natural eutrophic waters, flood meadows in river valleys, extensively mown lowland meadows, floodplain forests, and populations of specially protected plant and animal species.

The Písčina u Tuhaně Natural Monument lies on the eastern edge of Tuhaň. It covers approximately 0.43 hectares and has been protected since 2007 because of its exceptionally well-preserved sand grassland communities. The Písčina u Tuhaně protected area includes sand grassland communities of the Thero-Airion and Corynephorion canescentis alliances; typical species include the sand plantain (Plantago arenaria) and grey hair-grass (Corynephorus canescens).

Part of the Úpor-Černínovou European site extends into the cadastral area of Tuhaň.

Culture and History

The traditional pilgrimage event “Setkání přátel aneb den plný her a pohody” is considered one of the municipality’s central cultural activities in Tuhaň.

Zámek Ostrov Castle is located in the vicinity of Tuhaň, while the U Svatého Vojtěcha Church is in the immediate surroundings. The V Mikově hill [Malý Újezd] is also located in the immediate vicinity of Tuhaň.

The U Skály hill [Malý Újezd-Jelenice], Hostinná hill [Hostín u Mělníka] and Cecemín SE hill [Všetaty] are located in the vicinity of Tuhaň.

The Stará kanalizační čistírna Praha-Bubeneč Museum and Letohrádek královny Anny Castle are located in the wider regional surroundings of Tuhaň.

Routes

The Poutní cesta Blaník–Říp pilgrimage route runs from Neratovice to Tuhaň along a 4.4 km section. The Naučná stezka Tuhaň educational trail begins and ends as a loop at Tuhaň village square.
