Nature

Vysoký les [Klokočná] is a hill in the immediate vicinity of Tehovec. (Na Marjánce) [Zvánovice], Skalka [Strančice-Předboř] and Dolánka [Tismice] are hills in the surroundings of Tehovec. The Klokočná educational trail begins near Tehovec-Vojkov, at the start of the yellow-marked hiking route on the Prague–Kutná Hora road. PSB Klokočná is a demonstration site operated by the state forestry administration for environmentally compatible management of state forests and is intended for both professionals and the general public.

History

A possible first mention of Tehovec dates from the period between 11 and 20 August 1373 and is connected with a church dispute in Prague, in which, among others, Ondřej from “Tehovec” is mentioned. An entry dated 13 March 1407 lists Tehovec among the villages acquired by the Monastery of St. Charles in the New Town. An entry in the land registers from 1513 lists Tehovec with two ponds.

The estate to which Tehovec belonged was sold to Prince Karl of Liechtenstein in 1623; his family held the domain until the land reform after the First World War. On 28 April 1866, a fire in Tehovec destroyed the farmsteads with house numbers 1 to 9, 14, 19 and 23, as well as the barns at houses 1, 2, 9 and 14. Tehovec is documented as having previously been home to a significant pottery industry with weekly markets for pottery.

Culture

On 30 April 2024, the maypole was traditionally erected and a witch-burning bonfire was held in the village square in Tehovec. In the wider regional vicinity of Tehovec lies Práče, a fortress. Also located in the wider regional vicinity are Palác Kinských and The Golz-Kinsky Palace, both palaces, as well as Galerie Rudolfinum, a museum.
