In Svojšice, the chateau, church, historic sculptures, and Svojšický Pond represent the town’s diverse facets.

Culture and History

Svojšice Chateau includes a park and a garden. The chateau is a Baroque-Classical building and is protected as a cultural monument. St. Wenceslas Church in Svojšice has Gothic origins documented in writing since 1352. The religious ensemble is complemented by the Chapel of St. Wenceslas in Svojšice, a Baroque niche chapel dating from 1773. Services are held at St. Wenceslas Church on Saturdays at 2:00 p.m.; the church is open from 1:30 p.m.

Svojšice is also home to several historic sculptures. The statue of Saint John of Nepomuk is a Baroque work dating from 1714 and is one of the oldest statues of this saint in the Kolín region. The Early Baroque statue of Saint Wenceslas on the pillar dates from 1694. On 23 November 1987, it was entered under number 35450/2–3460 in the Central Register of Immovable Cultural Monuments of the Czech Republic.

The painting “Apoteózy sv. Václava” from 1773 by Václav Prokop Kramolín was originally located on the main altar of the church in Svojšice and is now part of the collections of the Regional Museum in Kolín.

Water and Landscape

Svojšický Pond is one of the most significant landscape features of the municipality of Svojšice. At Svojšický Pond on the Voděradský Stream, four branches of the local ecological stability system meet; a local biocentre is located there.

The Svojšice Oak is also a protected landscape feature. It is protected because of its age and importance as a dominant landscape feature. At the same time, it is difficult to access; no path leads to it.

There are bus connections from Svojšice to Kouřim, Kolín, and Plaňany.
