Poříčany: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

In Poříčany, a settlement history dating back to the Neolithic, a Slavic settlement dated to the 8th century, and the late Baroque Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary come together. There is also the Kudrnáčova Trail on the southern edge of the village and several hills in the surrounding area.

Culture and history

The area around present-day Poříčany has been continuously inhabited since the Neolithic. The establishment of the Slavic settlement in Poříčany is dated to the 8th century. The predecessor settlement was located on a rise above a bend in the Šembera stream and guarded the entrance to the valley.

The present Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary was built as a late Baroque structure from 1750 to 1754 and consecrated on 8 September 1751. It is a significant example of late Baroque architecture in the Kolín area and was influenced by the work of Kilián Ignác Dientzenhofer. The church and its grounds have been listed as an immovable cultural monument in the Czech heritage register under number 18231/2-1939 since 3 May 1958.

The Poříčanský jarmark is held on the first Saturday in September in the village square by the church and has already taken place for the 15th time.

The hills Holý (Chrást u Poříčan), Ke Klučovu (Klučov-Lstiboř), Pastviště (Hořany u Poříčan), and Zálužník (Kounice) are located in the vicinity of Poříčany.

The Kudrnáčova Trail begins on the southern edge of Poříčany in Úzká Street. The Oranžové hřiště in Poříčany can be used for football.
