Český Brod: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

In Český Brod, a particularly multifaceted look into the town’s history leads to the Church of St. Gothard: the church began as a single-nave Romanesque church from the mid-12th century and was rebuilt into its present Baroque form between 1765 and 1772 based on a design by the distinguished Prague architect Jan Josef Wirch. Despite historicist renovations, it preserves most of its medieval structures, architectural elements, and stonework, including a late Gothic roof truss.

Culture

The exhibitions at the Podlipanské Museum cover the memorable Battle of Lipany on 30 May 1434 as well as the Slavic hillforts in Pošembeří. Several seasonal exhibitions and accompanying programmes also take place there each year.

The bell tower at the Church of St. Gothard was built in the second half of the 16th century as a new Renaissance tower using sandstone blocks. It is currently not open to the public; however, the interior of the Church of St. Gothard is occasionally opened to the public, although there are no fixed visiting hours.

History

The building of the original Old Town Hall is first mentioned in 1402. Since 1998, the Šatlava Gallery has served as a small exhibition space; the current location of the Šatlava dates back to 1850. Historical cellars, probably created in the 14th century, lie beneath Český Brod.

Nature

On the Údolím Šembery educational trail, the information board at the entrance is located by the brewery grounds on Tuchorazská Street in Český Brod. The more challenging route is approximately 11 km long and has 12 stops.
