Polerady is a place with a documented history dating back to 1290. In that year, Bohuslav z Hory bequeathed the village to the Chapter Deanery of St. Vitus in Prague.

Culture and history

One of Polerady’s notable native sons was František Josef Řezáč, a Czech Catholic priest, educator, writer and politician. At a crossroads on the western edge of the village stands a Baroque wayside shrine, which is protected as an immovable cultural monument.

A map of the Karlín District Office from 1906 shows square ramparts that no longer exist today to the northeast of Polerady. They may have been the remains of a Celtic sanctuary; in specialist literature, such square ramparts are referred to as “Viereckschanzen”.

Nature and landscape

Polerady has three memorial trees: a wych elm in the courtyard of house no. 42 and two small-leaved lime trees in front of house no. 31. The biocorridor project forms a strip of terrain approximately 2.5 kilometres long to the west, southwest and south of the village and includes four ponds with a total area of 1,040 m².

The LBK6 ecological corridor follows the Poleradský potok northwards from Polerady for approximately 800 metres. The Novoveský kopec hill [Nová Ves u Prahy] is also located nearby.

Transport

From 1 July 2026, PID plans the following route for bus line 321: Letňany – Veleň – Brázdim – Sluhy – Mratín – Polerady – Brandýs nad Labem, railway station.

Regional surroundings

The wider regional surroundings of Polerady include the Stará kanalizační čistírna Praha-Bubeneč Museum, the “The Golz-Kinsky Palace” palace, the Palác Kinských palace and the Galerie Rudolfinum Museum. The islands of Velké Benátky, Střelecký ostrov and Slovanský ostrov are also located there.
