Oleška: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Church of All Saints in Oleška is an early Gothic church built in the last third of the 13th century. Its polygonal apse is one of the oldest known examples of the use of this architectural element in the rural area of Central Bohemia.

Culture and History

The Church of All Saints stands approximately in the centre of Oleška on gently sloping terrain. It is registered in the Central Register of Immovable Cultural Monuments of the Czech Republic under number 36062/2–827. In Oleška, church services are generally held on the first Sunday of the month at 11:30 a.m.

The so-called Olešecký Cross is a stone cross made of red Nučický sandstone from the second half of the 19th century. It stands east of the village at the turn-off to Krymlov from the main road between Prague and Kutná Hora. In the centre of Oleška, there is also the Křížek on the bank of the Nučický potok.

Nature and Landscape

The Nučický potok flows through Oleška. Southeast of Oleška, on the edge of a difficult-to-access wooded area, grows the Dub u Olešky, a protected pedunculate oak (Quercus robur) regarded as an aesthetically interesting landscape landmark.

The Čertova brázda extends as a clearly recognisable system of depressions, ditches and hollow ways over 21 kilometres between Sázava and Chotouň; Oleška is one of the places mentioned along its route. Along its entire course, the Čertova brázda remains more or less clearly recognisable in the terrain to this day.
