Slustice: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Sluštice combines a remarkable village church with an agricultural landscape at the transition between two geographical regions. At its centre is the Church of St James the Greater: the single-nave Gothic church is surrounded by a cemetery wall with a gate. Inside, Baroque ceiling paintings and fragments of Gothic wall paintings have been preserved. The originally Gothic church was completely rebuilt between 1746 and 1749; only the masonry of the presbytery remains from the older building.

Culture and history

Traces connecting Sluštice with Czech cultural history can also be found outside the church. The former school building No. 53 is known from Jiří Menzel’s film “The Snowdrop Festival”. The traditional Sluštická pouť is held in conjunction with a breeding-animal exhibition and a football tournament.

Location and landscape

Sluštice lies on the Prague Plateau, on the boundary between the Central Bohemian Uplands and the Czech Table. The landscape is predominantly characterised by agricultural land. Smaller parts of the Sluštice area are covered by Babický les, Klánovický les and Říčanský les.

Bodies of water also form part of the local landscape. Mlýnský rybník borders the eastern edge of the settlement of Sluštice and serves to store water and provide fire protection. The local waters also include the Výmola stream and two culverted sections of its tributaries. Sluštice is connected to the Pražská integrovaná doprava public transport system.

Routes and events

The “Cesty, které nás spojují” route connects Sluštice with eight other municipalities via 27 km of restored field paths for pedestrians. Along the route, 44 information panels provide details about the history, culture and natural features of the two regions. On the walking paths, a suitable route length can be selected depending on the level of difficulty; the paths are also suitable for the youngest day-trippers.

Children’s fishing competitions for children aged 3 to 15 were announced for 29 August 2026 at Rybník Velký in Sluštice.
