Svémyslice combines a Late Baroque church, a bell tower with a varied construction history, and archaeological traces from several periods. This local character is complemented by the Svémyslice water area, the Sluncová sports and children’s playground, and direct bus connections towards Prague and Brandýs nad Labem–Stará Boleslav.

Culture and History

The present-day Late Baroque Church of St Procopius in Svémyslice was built in 1773. It is a protected cultural monument and is used for religious services and cultural events.

South of the Church of St Procopius stands the Svémyslice bell tower by the enclosing wall of the former cemetery. The ground floor of the bell tower is accessible through an entrance later added to the north façade. Its hipped roof dates from 1846 and replaced an earlier onion dome.

The archaeological finds also give the village a history reaching far back into the past. They include a Bell Beaker culture grave, a vessel from the Early Bronze Age, and a settlement from the Eneolithic period. Surface collections in the Vinořský potok area in 1989 and 1990 also recovered pottery sherds from the Eneolithic period, the Bronze Age, and the Hallstatt and La Tène periods.

Water and Leisure

The Svémyslice water area is managed as part of pond farming. The Municipality of Svémyslice issues fishing permits for the water area during office hours on Wednesdays from 13:00 to 15:00 and from 17:00 to 19:00, or by prior arrangement with the mayor.

The Sluncová sports and children’s playground has play equipment for children up to 12 years of age.

Bus route 353 connects Svémyslice via Zeleneč railway station with Prague-Černý Most and Horní Počernice. Bus route 376 runs from Prague-Letňany via Kbely, Satalice, Radonice and Svémyslice to Brandýs nad Labem–Stará Boleslav railway station.
