Dobřejovice: Holiday Apartments and Houses

Dobřejovice combines a historically developed castle complex with paths through the surrounding countryside, the Mlýnský Pond and lively local traditions. The history of the castle is particularly notable: it developed from a former fortress that was already documented there in 1309 as the seat of Bohuslav.

Culture and History

Today’s Dobřejovice Castle is predominantly a Baroque building with four wings, whose core is formed by a Gothic water castle. The castle complex, including its chapel, is a valuable example of an 18th-century Baroque aristocratic residence. Thus, both the medieval foundation and the later defining Baroque form are closely united in one place.

Music history is also connected with Dobřejovice. The composer Václav Vačkář was born in Dobřejovice on 12 August 1881 and died on 4 February 1954. He dedicated the polka “Dobřejovická” to his hometown.

Paths, Water and Nature

The circular route “Kolem dokola Dobřejovic” runs along side roads, cycle paths and well-maintained paths and also includes a staircase. Another described route is the walk “Do Čestlic po novém”: it offers a pram-friendly option that runs outside the noise barrier in Průhonice.

The Mlýnský Pond, usually known as Nový, is part of the landscape. It was created in 1987 at a site where a pond had historically already existed. A pair of kingfishers nests on one bank of the pond along the circular route around Dobřejovice.

Dobřejovice can also be included in a signposted cycling route: the “Za obdivuhodnými příměstskými ekosystémy” cycling tour passes through the town and lists Nový rybník and cycle path 8100 as reference points.

Local Traditions

In Dobřejovice, a pilgrimage with carousels and swings is traditionally held for the Feast of the Holy Trinity. At the end of the carnival season, a carnival procession is also traditionally held.
