Petrovice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Petrovicko educational trail begins and ends in Petrovice, is just under 27 km long, and has 20 information panels. Part of the Petrovicko educational trail is also accessible to cyclists.

Hiking and Trails

The Petrovická Trail leads from Petrovice via Hodětín Hill to the Kuníček lookout tower. It includes a stone Stations of the Cross connecting Kuní, Kuníček, and Rybníček.

Nature

The Vrškámen natural monument is located approximately 500 m east-southeast of the center of Petrovice. In the forests near Petrovice lies Husova kazatelna, a protected natural monument and the largest rocking stone in the Czech Republic. It can be reached via a walkable tourist trail; from the road, the access route continues for more than 250 m.

Culture and History

The church complex of St. Peter and Paul is located at the northeastern corner of Petrovice’s square. It comprises the parish church, the stone cemetery wall, and the Chapel of St. John of Nepomuk, which was built onto the outside of the wall’s western section. The original medieval Church of St. Peter and Paul was remodeled in the Baroque style in the 18th century under Jesuit influence.

The Petrovice château grounds are classified as a cultural monument. The château’s main building, also known as “Panský dům,” stands on the site of an older medieval fortress. Its construction dates back to the 14th century; the first written mention dates from 1489.

Views and Orientation

The Kuníček lookout tower is 60.02 m high; its upper viewing platform is 36.6 m above the surrounding terrain. The Kuníček lookout tower near Petrovice was opened to the public on June 28, 2003.
