Oplany: Holiday Apartments and Houses

Oplany is located in the Central Bohemian Region, 8 km south of Kostelec nad Černými lesy, in the valley of the Oplanský potok stream between mixed forests. The town lies at an average elevation of 360 m and covers a cadastral area of 580 hectares.

Water and Landscape

The Oplanka stream, also called the Oplanský potok, flows through Oplany from north to south through a winding valley between meadows and wooded slopes. Near Rovné, it flows into the Jevanský potok and subsequently into the Sázava.

The Náramka spring is located on the Oplanka stream in the direction of Stříbrná Skalice and has survived to this day. Historically, it served local farmers in summer when there was not enough water in the village for livestock, and it was marked on Austrian military maps used in the war between Austria and Prussia in 1866.

The water reservoir serves landscaping, ecological and water-management purposes and increases the landscape’s retention capacity for storing water in the area.

The hills Šrámota (Chocerady-Vestec), Obícka (Lhotky u Malotic), Kamenka (Horní Kruty-Újezdec) and Na Marjánce (Zvánovice) are located in the surroundings of Oplany.

Culture

The Chapel of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary is a listed building in Oplany dating from 1849 and was consecrated on 15 August 1849.

In the wider region around Oplany are Konopiště, a château, Práče, a fortress, and Loreta, a church.

Activities

Cycle loop route 4/B is approximately 25 km long and runs from Sázava via Nechyba, Benátky, Oplany, Hradec and Stříbrná Skalice back to Sázava.

The KolOplan cycling competition has been held in Oplany repeatedly; announcements are available for 2018, 2024 and 2025. The Oplanská Bloudička orienteering event has also been held in Oplany repeatedly; the dates were 16 September 2017 and 15 June 2019.
