Mrač: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

The Mrač fortification stands on a rocky promontory above the floodplain of the Benešovský potok stream.

Culture and history

A fragment of the fortification, part of the moat and an entrance to a cellar carved into the rock have survived from Mrač Fortress. The fortress was probably built at the end of the 14th century; in 1648, it was mentioned as abandoned and later served as a granary and residential building. The Mrač fortress site has been preserved in the form of two earth mounds, a moat and ramparts. The area of Mrač Fortress is registered as a cultural monument.

In the wider region around Mrač are Práče Fortress and the Loreta Church. Mrač is also home to the Svět Škodovek Museum, housed in a former motorcycle factory.

Landscape

Žernovka Hill (Poříčí nad Sázavou), Na Berance Hill (Soběhrdy-Žíňany) and Vepří Hill (Přestavlky u Čerčan) are located in the vicinity of Mrač. Žebrák Mountain is located in the area around Mrač.

Transport

Mrač railway station is located on line 221 of the regional Praha–Benešov u Prahy route. It is integrated into the public transport system and offers step-free access to the station and all platforms.
