Libovice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

A yellow-marked hiking trail leads through Libovice and on to the U Jána trail junction. The locality is traditionally characterized by agriculture and forestry and lies on the edge of Džbán Nature Park. This brings together a rural character, forest landscape, and specific hiking destinations in one place.

Nature and Trails

Zelený vrch is the highest point in Kejkol Forest. Dívčí skála, to which the municipality of Libovice regularly organizes a traditional New Year's hike, is the remnant of a sandstone rock formation roughly halfway between Sv. Jana and Kvílice.

History

One station on the Libovická stezka trail bears the title “Coal Mining in Libovice” and covers coal mining in Libovice. The Osada Necky station also records the folk tradition that a settlement called Necky stood there before the Thirty Years' War. Two cellars and slight traces of foundation walls from this former settlement have been preserved at Osada Necky.

The history of coal mining is also connected with Necky: at a depth of about 11 meters, residents came across coal while deepening a well. At the spring near Necky, traces of the three former pond dams with culverts are still preserved. Above Libovice, the Red Cross commemorates a Russian general who was seriously wounded and died there during the Napoleonic Wars.

Places and Buildings

The Chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk was built in 1837. Jedlý Park is a 1.69-hectare park with additional play and educational features, a workout area, and furnishings for recreation and relaxation. The Myslivecká chata can be rented for private events.

The Beyerovka Château was completed in 1867 in the Romantic Tudor Gothic style. In 1964, the municipality received permission to demolish the Beyerovka Château; afterward, only a pile of stones remained of the building.
