Lešetice: Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Památník Vojna Lešetice is the only preserved communist labor camp in the Czech Republic. In Lešetice, this historic site combines exhibitions, contemporary art, and a lookout tower.

Culture and History

Tour route A covers the camp grounds with reconstructed historic buildings of the former command building, the detention cell, the so-called bunker, the infirmary, the cultural center, accommodation building G, and other buildings. Route A also includes an exhibition in the command building about persecution after February 1948 and the Third Resistance.

Tour route B comprises the permanent exhibition “Uranium in Czech History,” which explores the development of uranium mining over the past two centuries and its impact on science, technology, and society. Route C includes the “ORBIS PICTUS: EUROPA” gallery featuring contemporary European visual art. The “Obětem komunismu” sculpture was installed in front of the main building of the Památník Vojna in Lešetice in 2010.

The lookout tower at the Památník Vojna offers panoramic views of the surrounding countryside.

Routes and Landscape

Cycle route 302A leads from the Památník Vojna via Zavržice and is a branch of route 302. One route connects the Památník Vojna, Lešetice, Žežice, Brod, the railway station in Příbram, and Svatá Hora. The Chapel of the Sacred Heart of Jesus stands in the village square in Lešetice. The spoil heaps around Lešetice are reminders of uranium ore mining.

Getting There

From Příbram, the Památník Vojna can be reached via road I/66 in the direction of Milín. Near Lešetice, turn right onto a local road towards Lešetice and the Památník Vojna. The memorial is approximately 8 km from Příbram.
