Modřovice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Modřovice can be explored through specific buildings and landmarks: Modřovice Fortress probably fell into disrepair after 1510. At the site of the former fortress in the southwest of Modřovice stands a granary building known as a “špejchar”; opposite it is a former sheepfold. In the centre of Modřovice, there are three cast-iron crosses at house numbers 41, 18 and 15. The cross at house number 15 bears the year 1883 carved into it; the stone pedestal bearing this year was moved to Holý vrch in 2017.

Culture

The first written mention of Modřovice dates from 1367 and records the appointment of the parish priest Matěj to the parish of Třebsko. The seventh station of the pilgrimage route from Březnice to Svatá Hora lies in the cadastral area of Modřovice. In the direction of Příbram, it depicts “The Arrest of Christ in the Garden of Gethsemane”, while on the return journey it depicts Saint Agnes of Bohemia, the patron saint of Bohemia. The eighth chapel on the pilgrimage route from Březnice to Svatá Hora has not survived.

In the wider surrounding region of Modřovice lies the historic destination of Lety u Písku – Památník holokaustu Romů a Sintů v Čechách. The ruins of Zřícenina Valdek, Hrad Zvíkov Castle and Svatá Anna Church are also located in this wider surrounding region.

Nature

The Modřejka stream flows through Modřovice, while Hrádecký rybník pond lies in the centre of Modřovice. The mountains of Vinice, Velká Třemošná, Štěrbina and Praha are located in the vicinity of Modřovice.

Road III/1911 runs from Příbram via Třebsko, Modřovice and Chrást to Březnice.
