Lazsko: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

On the border of the cadastral territories of Lazsko, Lešetice and Zavržice lies the Vojna Memorial, an authentically preserved prison complex considered unique of its kind in Central Europe.

History and Remembrance

The complex was opened to the public in 2005 following extensive reconstruction and houses a museum exhibition about the victims of communism. The publicly accessible Vojna Memorial complex includes the camp commandant's building, the so-called bunker, accommodation building G, the detention facility, the unheated concrete room, the cultural centre and the former prison infirmary.

Lazsko was first mentioned in 1336 in a document issued by John of Luxembourg; the village belonged to fiefs whose holders were obliged to protect the royal castle of Kamýk. During a rescue excavation carried out by the Archaeological Institute in Prague, 21 cremation graves were discovered in 1957 at Lazsko's Hallstatt-period cremation burial ground.

The Stříbrný vrch viewpoint is used by residents of the municipality and people from the surrounding area for daily recreation. Stříbrný rybník is a destination for excursions in Lazsko; its recreational area is intended for relaxing by the water and swimming in a harmonious landscape. Stříbrný rybník can be reached on foot, by bicycle, bus or car.
