Radovesnice I: Holiday apartments and holiday homes
Radovesnice I combines a nature trail through the Štítarské Valley with historical landmarks. The Štítarským údolím nature trail runs along the Pekelský potok from Štítary on the outskirts of Kolín via Radovesnice I to Zibohlavy.
Culture and history
The Radovesnice I chateau complex includes a preserved Renaissance building in the farmyard, known as the old chateau building. The Baroque granary in the village also tells of its agricultural history: it was built in 1790–1791 and extended in 1832–1833 to serve as a grain drying house.
At the beginning of the 16th century, the Maternové z Květnice had the first fortress built in Radovesnice. Another testament to the local and regional history stands northeast of Radovesnice I on the road to Křečhoř: this is the monument to Ondřej Sovina.
Landscape and surroundings
The immediate surroundings of Radovesnice include Skála Hill [Kbel u Ratboře], Polepský vrch Hill [Kolín] and Chlumeček Hill [Kořenice]. In the wider region around Radovesnice lies Hořánck Mountain. Zámek Kačina Chateau is also located in the surrounding area.
The history of water technology
The Radovesnice waterworks was built in 1897 as Kolín’s third drinking-water source. Two collection wells dating from 1897 have been preserved in its catchment area near Radovesnice. The lower-lying well is covered by a two-metre-high masonry building with stone door jambs.
